Westshore technology has developed a range of sailing and boating applications, most of which are available on Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store.

Boat Speedo

BoatSpeedo is a simple to use speedometer app, optimised for sailing and motor boating.

It is GPS based and measures speed based on actual distance travelled. This differs from probe or paddle wheel based boat speedometers which measure speed through the water and hence are affected by the speed of the water itself, i.e. tides and currents.

Start View

The start line is clearly superimposed on the live view on your devices camera.

To set a line end point, the user moves to 3m from the mark, centres it in the view finder and taps the screen. The line will show automatically when two end points have been set.

Boat Clinometer

Developed with feedback from champion sailors, boat clinometer allows dinghies and cruisers monitor and train for their optimum racing heel angle.

Measures heel and allows heel targets be set and timed for sailing racing and training.

Target heel can be set at any angle – for example, flat for dinghy sailing, or at a optimum upwind heel angle for yachts.

A simpler iOS version is also available.

Mast Rake

Captures a photo of a boats mast then allows use to add points to the photo to measure the angle relative to the boat.

Points can be added by either dragging the target into position and hitting the pin button, or simply by tapping on the screen. The photo can be zoomed to allow more accurate point placement.

Photos with the angle displayed can be saved and viewed later.

Compass Camera

CompassCamera is a simple camera app that includes the compass bearing of the view, in either degrees or points of the compass, in the camera preview display.

When a photo is captured the bearing information is included with the image, which is saved to the phones gallery.
